Excerpt from the book

"I was always like a big brother and leader to the large group of Mount Abu students whose parents lived in the same refugee camp as mine. Once, on a trip back to Mount Abu after summer vacation, we were standing on the arrival platform at a New Delhi train station. Since there was no adult in charge, I was counting the group to make sure everyone had made it when two Indian police officers briskly approached and ordered us into their office. They asked to see our tickets, and then began to yell that we were in big trouble because we had only paid student fare, rather than the full fare, which was double. So we all pulled out our student IDs from Mount Abu to prove that we were students. But the officers still weren't satisfied, and they started to dig through our pockets for money."

"This was not going well, and I had to think fast. In Tibetan, I told all my classmates to begin screaming and crying like mad until I told them to stop. That is exactly what they did! The policemen became so shocked and flustered that they begged for us to stop. "Okay, you've paid the correct fare! We'll put you on the next train. Just stop!" they pleaded. At this, I asked my classmates to stop, and the office grew immediately silent."
