|
KTC Dallas is a Karma Kagyu Tibetan Buddhist meditation
center, operated by members under the auspices of Karma Triyana
Dharmachakra, the North American seat of His Holiness, the XVIIth
Gyalwa Karmapa (Ugyen Trinley Dorje).
The center offers a special environment in which to learn, study,
and practice meditation, as well as providing opportunities for
interaction among members, participants, and teachers. We regularly
host visits by teachers of our lineage, as well as special events
led by our own Lama Dudjom Dorjee. Explore the site and learn more

THE HISTORY of KTC
The KTC Dallas was begun in the late 1980s by a group of
local individuals. From time to time the group would sponsor visits
by travelling lamas of the Kagyu lineage. Weekly group practice
was conducted in members' homes or rented commercial space.
Today the center owns its own building and has a stable and growing
membership base. The purpose of the center is to provide a place
for the teachings of the Dharma, and of the Karma Kagyu lineage
in particular, to take root in this part of the world. Visits by
teachers are scheduled throughout the year, and local members conduct
a variety of activities from week to week. The center is fully self-funded,
with no financial assistance from outside entities. The majority
of maintenance and upkeep work, as well as administrative and other
tasks is performed by members and other volunteers.
The center is used on a weekly basis for meditation practice sessions,
classes, and other activities. A sizable collection of books on
Buddhism, meditation, and other related matters forms the basis
of the center's library; members and visitors have free access to
these materials, as well as tapes and transcripts of teachings.
